WEEK 11

BC FINAL

BC Place Stadium

This game was for all the marbles. Our undefeated season was on the line, and we were ready to go.

It was a tightly played game, and we found oursleves down 6-0 at halftime. After some shrewd coaching and motivation at halftime, our team came out and played very well in the second half. A big passing play from Tyrone Barnes to Mitch Black setup Aber Neufled on a short TD run. The extra point from kicker Jason Dhaliwal put us in front 7-6 with just a few minutes to go.

Our kickoff was not good however, and Tweedsmuir started with great field position. They capitalized by scoring with about a minute and a half to go in the game. We were trailing 13-7.

We got the ball back with a chance to tie the game, but it was not our day. Our tremendous season came to a heartbreaking end. Our first and only loss of the season came inside BC Place, in the championship game.

It was very emotional for many of the boys as they saw their championship ring slip away. Tears could be seen in lots of eyes. We held our heads high however, and we were not the best team that day. The loss gave players and coaches even more motivation to come back stronger, faster, and better next year.

Loking back, it was a tremendously successful season. Our team had not won a game for the last two years, and all of a sudden we go 11-0 and run to the finals. Our season put our team on the football map, and hopefully we can continue to grow as a team and as individuals. See you all next season!

WEEK 10

BC Semi-finals

This week we had to face our rival Windsor once again. This tine however the game was not at home. At Mercer Stadium in New West, we got an early lead, 7-0 in the cold and rain. Windsor fought hard, as expected. Our defense held their ground however and RB Mitchell Allen made up for a costly fumble with an 82 yard touchdown run to put the game away in the second half. Tyrone Barnes and Mitchell Black again lead the passing offense.

Final Score: Misson 27 - Windsor 14.

Our team had earned the right to play at BC Place for the BC AA Championship.

Season total: 11 wins, 0 losses.

We noticed that our final matchup would be against Lord Tweedsmuir.

WEEK 9

Second round of playoffs.

Now its getting late into the fall, and our fielld at Mission Secondary was unfit for play. We had to host WL Seaton at Rotary Stadium in Abbotsford.

This game was special for me personally as I invited several friends and family out to watch our team in the playoffs. The fans were not disappointed, as we built a 36-0 lead behind stellar defense and the passing game, lead by both quarterbacks, Tyrone Barnes and Niko Jacobs. Mitchell Black lead the receivers with three touchdowns.

Late in the game, Seaton made it respectable, scoring twice to ebd the game 42-13.

Season total: 10 wins, 0 losses.

WEEK 8

This week our team finally earned a reward for our great play. We earned the #1 raniking in BC and got the only bye in the first round of playoffs. We practiced hard and prepared for WL Seaton, a team from Kamloops.

WEEK 7

This week put us up against Earl Marriot Secondary, a team we had already beat, albeit a long time ago in preseason. Again this gane started slowly for us, and we were actually trailing the game 7-0. Our offense finally got going, again after a big return from Rene Portillo. Aber Neufeld sealed the game with two touchdowns and some timely first downs. Late in the game, Earl Marriot score twice when both teams were using mostly backup players.

Final score: Mission 34 - Earl Marriot 21

Season total: 9 wins, 0 losses.

This was the last game of the regular season, which means we finished the season perfect. Now on ot playoffs.

WEEK 6

Coming back form the strike, the coaches were a little worried that our team may have lost focus. This proved false however, when kick returner Rene Portillo returned a punt fo a touchdown to give us the lead 7-0. Our team never looked back, outscoring the John Oliver Jokers 27-0.

Season total 8 wins, 0 losses.

WEEKS 4 and 5

Unfortunately, these weeks were lost due to the BC teacher's strike. The team carried out a few informal practices with no equipment on a field away from the school, with coaches who were not part of the BCTF.

WEEK 3

This week posed another difficult challenge. Lord Tweedsmuir Secondary had a good record against similar opponents to our team. We knew again that if we didn't play a good game, we would lose.

The game itself was fairly uneventful. In the second half, Mission relied heavily on HUGE runnning back Aber Neufeld. Neufeld carried the ball extensively, scoring three of Mission's four touchdowns.

Neufeld also lead the defense, notching two sacks among numerous tackles.

Mission 28 - Tweedsmuir 8

Season total: 7 wins, 0 losses

This game would prove to be an appetizer for the main event, details to follow.

WEEK 2

After the big win over Windsor, our team was starting to feel like we were in control of our division. Our next test came on the road against Seaquam, a team we had beaten in preseason. The game started out slowly, with a 8-0 score at halftime. In the second half, however, the team came through with some key plays on offense and defense. Running Back Mitchell Allen scored two touchdowns early in the second half to put Mission ahead for good. Kyle Green was outstanding on defense with 6 tackles.

Final Score: Mission 28 - Seaquam 8

Season total: 6 wins, 0 losses.

WEEK 1

After a very successful exhibition season in which our team went 4-0 with wins over Aldergrove, Valleyview(kamloops), Seaquam, and Earl Marriot, we faced definitely our toughest challenge to date - the Windsor Dukes.

Lets take a look back at the last two years of football for both teams:

Mission began its program in 2003, LOSING ALL GAMES for both the '03 and'04 seasons.
Windsor was undefeated in '03 and '04......the reigning BC JV AA powerhouse.

Needless to say we had our work cut out for us.

The game was at our home field, and our coaches had made sure our players knew what was at stake. Lose to Windsor and waste our great exhibition season. Beat Windsor and be in control of our league from the start.

Final score: Mission 21 Windsor 12

Quarterback Tyrone Barnes threw 2 touchdowns to WR Mitchell Black to lead the offense. Defensive standouts included Chase Jones and Black, who each registered a sack.
